At With A Child’s Heart Behavioral Health Center, family therapy is offered as a client-centered, adjunctive support to individual treatment—not as a standalone service. Our approach is rooted in the belief that true healing for children and adolescents begins with a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship between the client and their individual therapist.
We incorporate principles of Family Systems Theory while maintaining an individual-focused model. Family therapy is introduced only after the client has built sufficient rapport, gained internal stability, and expressed readiness to involve their family in the healing process.
This approach allows the client to:
- Invite family members into session when appropriate
- Explore relational dynamics at their own pace
- Practice newly learned skills in a supported environment
- Identify and articulate their needs with therapist-guided structure
