Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know before getting started. Don't see your question? Reach out — we're happy to help.

Getting Started
We serve children, teens, and adults — typically between the ages of 3 and 80 years old.
The first session is a gentle intake — a chance for us to get to know you or your child and your family's needs. We talk about what's going well, what's feeling hard, and what kind of support might help. No pressure, just connection.
Yes! We're happy to offer a brief parent consultation or discovery call to help you feel confident and comfortable before the first session.
We are located at 3395 Sixes Road — right in front of the McDonald's, on top of the Pediatric Dentistry. We also offer both in-person and telehealth sessions, depending on your child's needs and comfort level.
Therapy & Services
We offer a wide range of services, all tailored to each client's needs:
  • Individual therapy (yes, we see adults too!)
  • Client-Led Family Systems Support
  • Couples Therapy
  • Therapy Intensives — longer, deeper sessions
  • Parent & caregiver support
  • Social-emotional groups
  • Study skills & body doubling sessions
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Neurodiversity-affirming approaches
  • Hypnotherapy
Every client's plan is tailored to their needs — we meet them where they are.
Yes — supporting neurodivergent youth is one of our specialties. Whether your child is diagnosed with ADHD, Level 1 Autism, AuDHD, or is simply wired differently, we honor their uniqueness and offer tools that work with their brain — not against it.
Body doubling is a focus-support strategy where someone is present (virtually or in person) while your child works — to help with attention, motivation, and follow-through. We offer this as part of our WonderFocus group and in customized support plans. Let us know how we can support your child's homework needs.
Absolutely. These are some of the most common reasons families reach out. We offer evidence-based and body-informed strategies to help kids manage emotions, navigate school challenges, and build resilience.
Yes. We can collaborate with school teams, offer documentation if appropriate, and help families advocate for supportive accommodations. Just let us know what you need.
Parents & Family
Yes. Especially for younger children, we often include caregivers in the process. For teens, we balance independence with check-ins to keep everyone supported. We encourage a "therapeutic distance" for all sessions — we want to truly become a safe space for your child.
At With A Child's Heart, our model prioritizes the child's emotional safety and growth first. We begin with individual therapy to build trust and stability. Family sessions are introduced only when the clinician determines the client is ready and would benefit from supportive family involvement. We do not offer crisis family counseling, as it does not align with our client-centered, developmentally appropriate treatment approach.
Yes — while we respect your child's confidentiality, we believe in collaborative care. We'll provide general updates and include you in goal-setting and check-ins when appropriate.
Child & Teen Concerns
That's okay. We never push or force. We create a space that feels safe, playful, and pressure-free — so your child can show up at their own pace. Building trust takes time, and that's something we honor deeply.
Totally okay. Therapy doesn't always start with talking. We use creative tools, nervous system work, and gentle relationship-building to help teens feel safe and open up in their own time.
Every child's journey is unique. Some come for short-term support during a stressful time; others benefit from longer-term care. We'll regularly check in to make sure therapy continues to feel helpful and aligned with your child's needs.
Most clients attend weekly or biweekly, but we can adjust based on your child's needs, energy, and availability. Some services (like group or body doubling sessions) follow a specific schedule. Insurance is also a factor in the frequency and duration of sessions.
Fees & Insurance
We are currently in-network with numerous plans. Please see our Fees and Insurance page for details. We also provide superbills for families who'd like to seek reimbursement if we don't accept your specific plan. Contact us if you need help navigating your options.
Yes. Session rates vary based on each clinician's licensure, experience, and area of specialization.

Individual, family, couples & intensive sessions: $150 – $200
Group therapy: Varies by group — contact us for current group rates.
