It indeed takes a village to support a family. I want to be apart of your village. I have dedicated my clinical career to offering a voice and a hand to children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. Many children who have endured trauma do not have the words to express their experience, so I offer them space to explore their thoughts and feelings. Typically, we begin to see children engage in behaviors that can be problematic in school or at home. By providing trauma-focused therapy, children have an outlet to work through their experiences which is correlated with decreased behaviors in their everyday lives.
I am a licensed clinical social worker who has provided mental health services to children, adolescents, and families since 2009. I specialize in trauma, child development, and mental illness. I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University and my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the College of Charleston. I have served children, adolescents, and families as well as the community through my work in a child advocacy center, psychiatric residential treatment facility, and the school system.
I work with children and adolescents ages 3 to 18. For younger children, I offer play therapy, so they can process their thoughts and feelings in their own play language in a non-threatening environment. For adolescents, I specialize in trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy to help them understand how their thoughts and emotions impact their behaviors.
As parents, when our children experience hurt, we sometimes feel lost and confused ourselves. I want to offer a safe place where parents feel supported and relieved, and children feel safe and comfortable. I am here to add to your support system and help your child and adolescent reconnect with themselves and others.
