We See You

Parenting a Child With Behavioral or Mental Health Challenges Is Exhausting

◉

The Guilt Is Real

You wonder if you said the right thing, handled the meltdown the right way, or if it's somehow your fault. It's not — but that doesn't make the guilt go away on its own.

◈

Nobody Really Gets It

Friends and family try, but unless they're living it too, they just don't understand what your daily life actually looks like. The isolation of that is its own kind of hard.

★

You're Running on Empty

Between appointments, school calls, behavioral crises, and just getting through the day — there's nothing left for you. You need support just as much as your child does.

Why This Group

A Space Made Just for Parents Like You

❋

Parents Who Get It

Every person in this group is parenting a child with behavioral or mental health challenges. No explaining, no justifying — just people who already understand what your week looks like.

◎

Therapist Guided

Sessions are facilitated by a licensed or pre-licensed master's level therapist — not just a peer group. You get professional support alongside community connection.

□

Tools You Can Actually Use

Beyond just venting, you'll walk away with real strategies, coping tools, and perspectives that help you show up better for your child — and yourself.

What to Expect

Structured Support, Real Conversations

Each session is 90 minutes and runs every other Thursday from 5:30–7:00 PM. You can join from your car, your bedroom, your backyard — wherever works for you.

Sessions are therapist-facilitated and designed to give space for both processing and learning. Some weeks feel like processing. Some weeks bring new tools. All weeks feel like community.

  • 1

    Check-In & Connection

Every session opens with space to share how your week has been — no pressure, just presence.

  • 2

    Therapist-Led Discussion

Your facilitator guides meaningful conversation around parenting challenges, coping strategies, and emotional wellbeing.

  • 3

    Peer Support & Sharing

Hear from other parents navigating similar situations. Share what's working — or what isn't. No judgment here.

  • 4

    Practical Tools & Takeaways

Leave each session with something concrete — a reframe, a strategy, or simply the knowledge that you're not alone.

  • 5

    Confidential & Safe

All members agree to group confidentiality before joining. What's shared in the group stays in the group.

FAQ

Common Questions

Does my child need to be a client at With A Child's Heart for me to join?
No — this group is open to any parent in Georgia whose child is experiencing behavioral or mental health challenges. Your child does not need to be seen at our practice for you to participate.
What age children are other parents dealing with?
The group is open to parents of children of all ages — from young children through teens. While experiences differ by age, the emotional weight of parenting a child with mental health challenges is something every member shares.
Is this therapy or just a support group?
It's a therapist-facilitated support group — not individual therapy. Sessions are structured and professionally guided, but the focus is on peer connection and shared support rather than individual clinical treatment. If you're interested in individual therapy for yourself, we can discuss that separately.
What if I miss a session?
Life happens — especially for parents. We ask that you let us know in advance when possible. Since the group meets biweekly, missing one session means waiting two weeks for the next, so consistent attendance helps you get the most out of the experience.
Is everything I share kept confidential?
Yes. All members sign a group confidentiality agreement before joining. Your facilitator is bound by professional ethical standards as well. What's shared in the group stays in the group.
How do I sign up?
Call us at 770-224-7245 or email [email protected]. We'll complete a brief intake and get you set up before your first session. Spots are limited so we recommend reaching out soon.
