Honestly I was skeptical at first. My son had been to two other therapists and he just shut down every time. First session with Mikah he came out talking. I don't even know what she said to him but something clicked. She's direct, she doesn't sugarcoat, and my kid respects that. It's been about 8 months now and he actually reminds ME when it's his appointment day. That has never happened before in his life.
Can we talk about how nice it is when someone actually picks up the phone? I called three places before this one and left voicemails at all of them. Kelley answered, she was warm, she didn't rush me, and when I started rambling about everything going on with my daughter she just listened. And then she helped me figure out who would be the right fit. She could have just booked the first available. She didn't. That meant a lot.
My 15-year-old told me after the first session "she actually gets it, mom." That's it. That's the whole review. I've been trying to get this kid into therapy since she was 12 and she shot down every therapist I found. One session with Jazmin and she was texting me to reschedule when we had a conflict. I don't know what magic she has but I'm not questioning it.
My son is 11 and has a really hard time with transitions and big feelings. He was having meltdowns at school almost every week. We started with Tori maybe 4 months ago and his teacher actually reached out last month to ask what changed. I cried when I got that message. Tori has given him actual tools he uses in real life, not just stuff that works in a therapist's office. She's amazing with kids.
We tried two therapists before Sarah and my daughter just sat there both times. With Sarah she actually talks. Like a lot. On the way home she tells me things they discussed and I'm just nodding trying to keep it together because she never talks to me like that. She's 13 so you know how that goes. Something about Sarah makes her feel safe enough to open up and I am so grateful.
My 8-year-old went through something scary at school and I had NO idea how to help her process it. Anne Marie uses a lot of art and play and my daughter genuinely thinks she's just going to do fun stuff. She doesn't even realize she's working through hard things. But she's sleeping better, she's not having as many nightmares, and last week she said "I feel better in my heart." I almost fell apart. Thank you Anne Marie.
Going through a divorce with two kids is a lot. I felt so guilty bringing them into sessions but Tiesha made it feel like the right call from day one. She's warm but also really real. She doesn't just validate everything, she actually helps my kids name what they're feeling and figure out how to handle it. My 9-year-old told me "Ms. Tiesha says it's okay to feel sad AND mad at the same time." That's a big deal for him.
My son is 14 and the most stubborn human being alive. He went to the first session ready to hate it. He came home and said "she's actually cool." From a 14-year-old boy that is basically a standing ovation. He still won't tell me what they talk about but I can see the difference. He's less reactive, he walks away from arguments now instead of escalating. Last week he walked in the door after his session and said "ya estoy bien, mami." And he meant it. Cynthia is clearly doing something right.
My daughter was really struggling. Like, I was scared for her. Lisa has been working with her for about 6 months now and I have my kid back. She laughs again. She makes plans with friends again. I'm not saying therapy fixed everything but Lisa gave her somewhere safe to put the heavy stuff and that changed everything. I've already referred two other moms to her.
I'll be honest. When they told me Bailey was an intern I was a little nervous. But she is SO good with my 7-year-old. Like genuinely, surprisingly good. My son asks about her between sessions. She remembers the little things he tells her, she makes it fun, and I can see real progress. And she checks in with me after sessions which I really appreciate as a parent. Don't sleep on the interns here.
Finding someone who truly understands sensory processing AND ADHD together has been honestly exhausting. Most therapists get one or the other. Christiane gets both. She adjusts the sessions based on how my daughter is that day. She's not rigid about it. My daughter had a hard time regulating before sessions even started. Now she walks in and settles right in. That took real skill to build.
I have three kids. All three have seen someone here at different points and I want to be really clear. Every single one of them had a great experience, with different therapists. That tells me it's not luck, it's the whole practice. The front desk is kind, the billing stuff is never a nightmare, and every therapist has actually cared. It is genuinely hard to find a place like this. We are not going anywhere.
