Tiana has a B.S. in Psychology that she received from Kennesaw State University and a M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling that she received from University of Georgia. She currently has her APC and she under supervision as she is working towards her LPC.
From a young age, Tiana has been passionate about helping others and once she learned more about the field of psychology in high school and undergrad, that passion for helping led her to the field of mental health, particularly therapy. Tiana works primarily from a person or client centered orientation while also working from an integrative approach which has included using CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), EFT (emotion-focused therapy), creative arts/expressive therapy, multicultural therapy, and relational cultural therapy. Tiana has worked with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, body image issues, low self-concept, discovery or difficulty regarding gender identity or sexual identity, healing your inner child, relationship issues, oppression (due to having a marginalized identity or identities). The importance of using an integrative approach is that therapy is not a “one size fits all” and every client deserves to receive therapy that is tailored to their needs as well as techniques that will meet and reflect those specific needs. Tiana also views clients from a holistic approach which means that she sees, validates, and acknowledges clients as the whole beings they are instead of a sum of their parts. She has worked in providing intersectional trauma care and helping clients who have experienced difficulty with self-efficacy/self-affirmation due to low self-worth rebuild belief in themselves and ability to externalize messages they received that was the catalyst for low self-worth for 3 years consistently.
