"The Kid Whisperer"
DOES MY PARENTING SUCK?2/11/2017 What part of the game is this? I am sure this is the thought that goes through the mind of every parent after that behavior report from their child’s teacher or when they are looking under their kid's mattress and finds that week-old turkey sandwich. We think to ourselves, “Have they lost their damn mind". Despite our thoughts, for some reason in their tiny little underdeveloped pre-frontal cortex, it was a brilliant idea! We all read the book, "What to Expect When Expecting," and if you were anything like me, you still found out crap that you didn’t expect to expect! (*Liars, jk). Raising kids is the most rewarding and precious thing you will ever do. Children are like a wrapped gift that we can never fully open. We know it's going to be something great, but we just have to be patient and know that the result will be worth the wait. This blog is not to give you any answers on being the perfect parent. I am just here to reassure you that, YES, your child just screwed up. And NO, it has nothing to do with you as a parent. I mean, it happens to everyone. Just when you think you are raising the next Doogie Houser, BOOM! Here comes a Joey from Blossom moment (Whoa!!!). So guess what? Don’t be so hard on yourself. Plus, if what they did was so bizarre it’s funny. Go ahead and laugh. Every time you shake your head or laugh, just start logging it in MYFITNESSPAL. That's what I do. I think I am down 1,000 calories from this morning alone. Ok, I'm kidding! Let me end with this, take a deep breath and repeat after me: "I am doing a kick-ass job raising this kid". Say this three times, grab a milkshake, and take a snoozer! Until Then. -Mikah- With A Child's Heart, LLC.

Mikah Miller, LPCI swear I am not a writer, but we all have to start somewhere. I set goals, just like everyone else and I thought 2017 would be an excellent time to execute some of those goals, especially writing. Won't you join me in my quest to live outside my comfort zone? ArchivesCategories |
